12th Week of Reno - 23-29 June 2008

Besides the platform was done during this week, the bedrooms parquet was polished FOC. Now they look shiny. The floor where the wall was hacked looks the same as the rest of the room. Acid-wash of the entire house was done too. This is the 1st time since we've got our keys in Feb that we can walk around without shoes on.

Parquet - Well polished for all bedrooms. Shown here is the studyroom. The boundary between the studyroom and living room is well-defined. Nicely done! Now waiting for the glass panels and doors to be fixed next week.

Acid-washed floor - After we went into the house, tears start to well-up. Not because we're sad or touched by the reno done, but due to some chemicals present in the air after the wash. :~

A closer look at the kitchen sink. It's undermount and I simply love it!

By next week, all reno should be completed. The headboard, side and dressing tables will be up. Glass doors and mirrors will be installed. The things that we bought ourselves will also be fixed. After that we'll have a good check on the house and report any unsatisfaction to Miko.

11th Week of Reno - 16-22 June 2008

Renovation is back to the 'slow mode' again. This week, only the solid top for kitchen cabinet is in place. Miko said they will be doing the headboard and by next week it'll be installed. Mirrors were also cut and ready to be put up.

Kitchen - With the solid top in place, the cabinets look so much nicer.

On 25 June, we went Ikea after work to buy 2 storage cabinets for each toilet and brought them up to the house for them to help us install above the toilet bowls. We saw that the platform is done. The colour is a bit too red but probably because it hasn't been varnished or coated.

10th Week of Reno - 9-15 June 2008

We were so excited to go up the house to see the carpentry after Miko MMS some photos of the progress. We went on Sun afternoon and "WOW" is the 1st impression of the work done. It's the first time that there're so many changes to the house within a week. However, after looking through the cupboards and feature wall, we were quite disappointed at the workmanship. But come to think of it, this is not yet the finished product and they will touch up the flaws, so not to worry too much. Overall we're please with what we saw and looking forward to the finished product.

Kitchen - Love the white glossy finish of the cupboards. There'll be some changes: removal of a shelf to fit in microwave and addition of a power-point. The solid top and orange glass backing is yet to be installed too.

Living room - Shoe-cum-display cabinet. The doors were fixed up.

Bomb shelter feature wall - The tea-coloured mirror isn't up yet.

TV console - the black portion is a storage space. The design is nice, but we didn't expect it to be so big that it blocks some of the light from coming in. Glass and tea-coloured mirror are yet to be put up.

MBR walk-in-wardrobe - Entrance to our room (left). This is how it looks with the door closed (right). The shelf is actually quite deep such that it can fit a DVD player.

Walk-in-wardrobe - When the door of the wardrobe is opened (left), this is what it looks like inside (right). It's actually more spacious than what I imagined. Overall, we're pleased with the wardrobe.

After the trip to our house, we went to ikea to get some shelves and rails for the toilets and kitchen respectively.
Glass shelf - It costs $19 and we bought 2, one for each toilet. It'll be fixed up above the sink so that we can place toothbrush etc on it. It'll look neater compared to putting our toiletries around the sink.
Stainless steel rail - Bought 2 of these (about 2.5 feet long each) at $9 each. These are to be installed along the wall above the sink. It's very useful as we can hang racks, utensils, chopping boards etc to save space on the table top.

12 June 2008 - Photoshoot

We reached French Bridal at 9.30am and started putting on make-up and hair-do. Photography started at around 11am. The photographer, David, is very professional and humorous. We went to Hortpark, Henderson wave and Fullerton area for outdoor shots. We also took some shots on old buildings outside the bridal studio. It was a very fun and tiring experience.

Evening gown - 1st outfit we wore for photoshoot. This is also our actual day evening gown.

Wedding gown - We love the outfit! We look like prince and princess. :)

Evening gown - This is for photoshoot only. Managed to 'steal' a shot while David was taking photo of me.

OUTDOOR SHOTS
Outdoor gown - Was inside the bridal shop waiting for David to pick up a car to drive us around. Started off our journey at around 4.30pm. Our 1st stop was Hortpark. But we went further in 1st as there's a nice, large patch of grass. We were greeted by a very nice blue sky. So lucky!
A pond with small, beautiful and colourful fishes inside Hortpark.
Henderson Wave - A wonderful place indeed. It's really beautiful here. Managed to catch the sunset high up on this bridge.
Night shots at Fullerton/Esplanade area. The photos look good on David's camera. Managed to get some shots of the cars' headlights as a line in photos. Looking forward to see them on 8 July.

9th Week of Reno - 2-8 June 2008

I didn't manage to go up the house the see but Justin went up with his mother and bro. He bought packet drinks up for the workers. So nice of him. :) He said they've touched up the damaged tiles and parquet along the hacked wall.

On Sun, we went to S&C Furniture to buy our mattress+divan. Total cost of our Slumberland Royal Princess with divan, 2 pillows, 1 bolster and mattress protector is $2400, about $200-300 cheaper than what we saw elsewhere.

Royal Princess - We love the plush feel and it's not too springy and hard. We got a divan instead of bedframe as we customised the headboard (which comes with 2 side tables and a dressing table). A divan will allow more walking space. We've picked chestnut colour for our 8 inches divan with short dark brown wooden legs.

On Mon 9 June, Miko called and said they're putting up the carpentry. She said "很美leh". That's so funny and cute of her. She MMS us a photo of the shoe cabinet. That's very nice of her. We're impressed and are so eager to go up and see it ourselves.
