16th Week of Reno - 21-27 July

Cushions at the MBR headboard are finally up! Miko called and MMS us the photos on Thur. It looks very nice and we are satisfied :) Went down on Sat to see. The cushions are rather hard, which is good. Our fridge and MBR curtain were also delivered on Sat. What's left to be done are the orange glass backing for the kitchen, touching up and delivery of our study table, bookshelf and coffee table which we bought on Wed. We went to S & C after work and spent $960 in total. They'll be delivered some time in early Sept.

MBR Headboard - With and without curtain. The red curtain really stands out! It'll match our bedsheet we bought last year during the Robinson's year-end sale. The door for the cupboard next to dressing table is missing in the photo as the workers took it back to fix the hinge so that it'll open from the dressing table and not the bed.

Lights of different colour. We'll have to change this, either by buying a new one or bringing it back to change with De Lite Shop.

Kitchen - My favourite part of the kitchen is the Mitsubitshi Baby Folio fridge we bought from Goh Ah Bee at $1450, the cheapest that we can source.

Jurong Point Japan Street - an extension of Jurong Point opened few weeks back. Soon Jurong Point will get bigger as they're constructing something next to the Boon Lay MRT.

On Sun, I went to Tangs with my parents and bought a 40cm wok made of 'die-cast titanium' made in Japan for $184.80. As my mother had a $100 Tangs voucher expiring end of the month, we used this voucher to buy this wok, which comes with an extra special cover set for grilling and baking. I really like it as it allows me to bake cake. So I don't need to find one microwave oven but can just get a cheaper and simple microwave.

15th Week of Reno Part 2

On Sunday, we went back to the house to wait for people to install our Sharp LCD tv in the MBR. As we bought our tvs and home theatre system more than half a year ago, Audio House gave us newer models for the Sharp tv and the home theatre system.

MBR Sharp Aquos LCD tv mounted onto our walk-in wardrobe.

Bomb shelter feature wall laminate was touched up yesterday. They painted the edges of all light-coloured laminates so that they're less obvious and look nicer.

Next week, the MBR headboard cushions shall be fixed...finally...then we'll inspect the house and see where we need to touch up.

15th Week of Reno - 14-20 July 2008

WOW WOW WOW!!! Our house is so nice now! Sat was a busy day but very fruitful. Furniture and curtains were delivered. Only left the fridge and master bedroom curtain. The carpentry workers were also around to touch up with paint and silicon. The floor was washed again. The house now looks more complete and cosy. LOVE IT!!! :D

Sofa, dining set, bed/mattress and curtains came at around the same time. It was so messy and we felt that we were obstructing their way and didn't know where to stand. Haha...The tv was delivered later and mounted. The tv console feature wall looks so different and nicer with the tv. Tv installation had some hiccups though - our Sharp LCD tv for the MBR was meant to be wall-mount but Audio House sales-person didn't arrange for that. They'll come on Sun to fix it. Also, for our Pioneer home theatre system, the tv console lacked holes for the speakers and subwoofer wires to pass through. Luckily the carpentry workers were around and Miko also came down and join us to fix the problem.

Our Slumberland Royal Princess - comes with 2 pillows, 1 bolster and a mattress protector. Cost us $2400. Since our headboard cushion is not done yet, our divan and mattress are not installed. Melvin will make another trip to install the bed and also touch up our sofa and dining table. His service is excellent!

Sofa - The legs are higher than expected. But it's ok as it allows space for us to mop and sweep the floor underneath. The material feels 'steady' and we're very satisfied with the quality. Comfortable to seat too. We have another set of grey covers. Bought this for $1400.

Dining table - The chairs are fantastic! Love the design and finish. However, the table is supposed to be black and opaque but what we got is transparent. Melvin will come another day to spray paint.

Living room curtain matches with our sofa and feature walls. The light grey study room curtain is thick enough to block out light for us to watch movie on our beloved plasma tv. :)

Roman blinds - Our study and guest rooms really look so cosy.

Roller blind - Neat and straight-forward. It adds privacy to our living room as it covers the window along the common corridoor. One of the shoe cabinet doors still needs to be re-done after the 1st round of re-do *sounds complicated*. ;)

Tv console feature wall - We'll enjoy watching tv even more, or at least I do. Hehe...

Living room with cool-warm lighting.

14th Week of Reno - 7-13 July 2008

We're approaching to the final stages of renovation. This week, the grout of the living room floor was done. We're very pleased with the results. The house really looks new. Besides that, there were not much changes to the house. Hopefully by next week everything will be completed as most of our furnitures will be delivered on the coming Sat. These include: sofa, dining set, bed, refrigerator, tvs and home theatre system and curtains. It'll be a busy Sat afternoon but I'm looking forward to it.

White grout! Simply love it!

Addition of a stopper for our kitchen glass door. The missing glass panal for our study room is also installed.

We also went to French Bridal on 8 July to look and choose our photos. We spent 3h and an additional $2050 for the photos (after some bargaining). We converted 20 full page photos from the package we took up to digital and added another 15 digital photos for our large album. There'll be a duplicate of this in a smaller 5R album. In addition, we also added another 22 photos of different poses for print into 5R album. The photos were very nicely taken, so we don't feel the pain in spending. Looking forward to see the layout of our photos! :)

13th Week - 30 June-6 July 2008

Headboard is finally up, though not yet completed. :) We're very delighted with the results. We simply love the design on the laminate. Workmanship is good too. Hope that with the cushions in place, it'll look even more magnificent. Our tea-coloured mirrors and glass panals are mostly in place. Only a few pieces were not measured correctly and were taken back. The items we've bought were also installed. There are a few things left that need to be touch up and redo. We're planning to ask Miko to help us redo the living room grout as it's uneven and dirty. This will be an additional cost of about $300+.

Headboard - Cushions and the dressing table's mirror are not installed yet, but it looks very nice already. The pattern on the laminate is so nice. We love it!

Walk-in-wardrobe - The mirror and the glass shelf are in place.

Tea-coloured mirrors - Finally they're here. Our tv console and feature wall look so much nicer and complete now. It'll look even better with the warm lights on.

Glass wall - Taken from the study room. Not completely done yet, but it still looks good.

Kitchen glass door and our Fisher & Paykel washing machine are installed.

The 2 railings bought from Ikea and our 30L Ariston storage heater are fixed up.

Glass shelves and storage cabinets, both from Ikea, are installed too.

Black laminate at the shoe cabinet is poorly done. Under reflection, the laminate looks very uneven, with many dents and is not smooth. Talked to Miko about it and she also agrees with us and said they'll replace the doors.
