8th Week of Reno - 26 May-1 June 2008

Air-con is finally here! The trunking is very neatly done. We're impressed. Our Tecno hob and hood were also delivered. Window grilles were installed too.

Living room. This design of window grilles is chosen because it looks modern and doesn't make us feel like being caged up.

Study room. No air-con trunking is seen in this room.

MBR. Most of the trunking will be hidden from view when the headboard is in place.

Guest room. Longest stretch of air-con trunking. It'll look better after painting.

7th Week of Reno - 19-25 May 2008

Lights were delivered on tue and installed on Fri. We went up to inspect on Sat night and there are quite a number of changes to be made. As suggested by Miko, the kitchen light is not bright enough and we need to get an additional light. Secondly, one of the tubes/bulbs of the kitchen and master bedroom lights are not working. Thirdly, we want to shorten all the hanging lights by half of their existing lengths. Lastly, the ceiling lights of the bedrooms are too white/blue. Changing them to warm-white (middle-tone colour) will be nicer.

Foyer light. The lines of lights that it makes against the ceiling is fantastic! Simply love it!

Living room. Covelighting is one of my fav as it gives a very warm and cosy touch to the house. The warm downlights surrounds the dining/living room while the warm-white downlights shine the middle of the dining and living area.

Cosy corner. Similar to the one in the MBR.

Master bedroom. The 3 crystal lamps are to be placed above the bed. We will have to shorten all the lengths. The pic on the right is the light for our walk-in wardrobe.

Ceiling lights in the other 2 bedrooms. Colour of light is too cool to our liking.

Toilet light - small and bright.

We went to Teck Whye Curtains & Services at Chinese Garden and Jimmy Textile at Geylang to get quotations for curtains. In the end we got Jimmy Textile to do the curtains for $1580. This includes full height night curtain and roller blind for living room, full height curtain for MBR, roman blinds for the other 2 bedrooms and full height curtain for glass wall.

6th Week of Reno - 12-18 May 2008

False ceiling is completed. Next week the lights will be delivered and installed. However the aircon can't be installed till 29 May as it's fully booked till then. The weather now is so warm, that's why many people installing aircon. Our carpentry will be starting too. The workers will do it in the factory and by the time the aircon is installed, the cupboards and feature walls can be put up. The 1st layer of paint is also done. Nice! :)

False ceiling

Colours of living room and 3 bedrooms (not very clear in the pic)

Taken from study room. False ceiling in living room acts as a pelmet to hide the tracks of glass door.

4th and 5th Week of Reno - 28 April-11 May 2008

It took 2 weeks for the wall between the bedroom and living room to be hacked. This is because the permit, although approved, took time to reach the ID. It was a long wait but after seeing the result after hacking, we are impressed and happy. The living room is brighter and very spacious now.

These materials should be for false ceiling.
